Victoria Ash Chamber Staff The Chamber staff have been busier than ever with a wide variety of projects and tasks. Currently there are 3 staff in the office at Town Hall and another 6 who keep things running smoothly in Victoria Park. Office staff include Nancy Metcalfe, Ashley Lennox and, of course, Victoria Ash who has managed all operations at the Chamber for the past 17 years. In addition to assisting more than 100 visitors to the Chamber's information booth each week, the ladies answer hundreds of telephone and email inquiries about what to do, where to shop, where to stay and how to get to Sensational Smiths Falls. Victoria Park staff include David Maddock, Jane Lee, Steven Summers, Marion Bell, Gail Moore-Barrie, and Taylor Bristow. Park staff have seen steady out of Town traffic as well as a significant increase in the number of large groups booking multiple sites. The Chamber of Commerce Office is located in the old Central School building at 77 Beckwith Street North in Smiths Falls. The school was built in 1871 at a cost of $7,179.00. Three rooms were used for lower grades and one classroom was used for high school students. Times have changed and so has the use of the building. Central School was designated under the Ontario Heritage act, as a Provincial Heritage Site in 1974. No longer a school, the rooms downstairs are now occupied by the Chamber of Commerce, the Department of Community Services and Department of Environment & Utilities. The second floor still has the appearance of classrooms and is home to the Downtown Business Association and the Town's Recreation Centre. |
